Now that the sun is coming out to play a little, the birds are singing, the beach is beckoning and the BBQ is so begging to do its thing it is time to get excited! Let us take to the streets, cafes, bars and parks!

But as soon as the sun dips or the breeze pushes a little harder we all run inside or have to pull the winter jacket back, sad I know. Peach & Gold Splendour

Two colours that I absolutely adore but rarely see paired in a wedding are peach and gold. The average venue will have a neutral base colour for their carpets (deep brown, black or grey) and neutral walls (white or cream) to keep the space as a bit of a blank canvas for guests, but because of this many venues seem bare and cold. One of the easiest ways to transform this kind of a space is to use warm and vibrant colours with golden undertones to create ambience and breathe life into any space.

Peach and gold are two of my favourites because they have a very regal and elegant feeling. The way candlelight reflects and catches gold mercury glass tea lights, or candlesticks is simply magical! Then peach peonies, chrysanthemums, tulips and roses make the table feel feminine and add that touch of natural beauty that can only be found in the wild.

Styling Tip: Don't be afraid to mix texture and shapes - you can absolutely mix square tea lights with round fish-bowl arrangements, or a simple single flower bloom in a funky bud vase. A variety of textures and shapes will draw the eye across a space and keep guests staring at all of the different elements to behold.

Recommended Additions: Never underestimate the power of candlelight! If you haven't visited your venue at night, make it the next thing on your to-do list! A venue takes on a completely different feeling and look at night - you may find your beautiful floral centrepieces disappear as the lights are dimmed and need extra lighting after the sun sets. Additionally that wall that you hate, or painting that is a bit odd may disappear into the background and not require the $600 drape line. Make time to drop by even if it's just for ten minutes to take a peak at your venue by night.

Interesting Fact: Once upon a time bridesmaids wore dresses very much like the bride's and the usher's and best man dressed like the groom to confuse evil spirits or anyone who meant harm to the bride and groom. It was believed they wouldn't know who the real bride and groom were and there for offered some sense of protection.

Celebrate the coming of spring with a Tea Party to go mad for! Rich plum velvet furniture with a wild twist, funky purple and lavender flower balls intermixed with moss for texture, specimen vases with feather butterflies, and a cake to top it all off!

Styling tip: Break up a monochromatic look with contrasting colours such as purple and green, and interject metallics and glass to give it a polished elegant look. Although mixing textures and opposing colours may seem scary, it creates a visual appeal that draws the eye from one element to the next in excitement.

Recommended additions: Always make sure to throw in your favourite personalised touches such as peacock feather plumes sprouting out of the flower balls, decorated tea cakes enticing guests to "eat me", or tea light candles for flickering ambiance in the evening.

Interesting fact: Do you know why the mad hatter was mad?

In 17th and 18th century hat making, mercury-based compounds were used in the creation of felt hats. This often led to mercury poisoning for the haberdasher, hence the phrase "mad as a hatter."
